Implementasi Edukasi DAGUSIBU dalam Meningkatkan Literasi Penggunaan Antibiotik pada Kasus Infeksi Gigi dan Mulut di Masyarakat

Dental and oral infections are among the most common health complaints in the community and are frequently self-treated with antibiotics without a physician's prescription. Inappropriate antibiotic use is one of the main drivers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which currently poses a global health threat. This community service activity aimed to improve public literacy regarding the rational use of antibiotics in dental and oral infection cases through a DAGUSIBU (Get, Use, Store, Dispose) educational approach. The activity was carried out in June 2025 in Belakang Padang Subdistrict, Batam City, Riau Islands Province, involving 42 participants. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest method was applied, comprising preparation, implementation (pretest, interactive lecture supported by leaflets and slides, demonstration, and discussion), and evaluation. A validated and reliable knowledge questionnaire was used as the instrument, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed an increase in the mean knowledge score from 58.7 (poor category) to 85.3 (good category), with the proportion of participants in the good category rising from 19.0% to 83.3%. The Wilcoxon test yielded p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference before and after the education. DAGUSIBU education was proven effective in improving antibiotic-use literacy in dental and oral infection cases and can serve as a community-based strategy to control antibiotic resistance.
