Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) Mencuci Tangan dengan Baik dan Benar di Desa Lamkawee Aceh Besar

This community service activity aimed to improve knowledge and handwashing practices among school-aged children through Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) education in Lamkawee Village, Aceh Besar. The background of this activity is the low awareness and practice of proper handwashing among children, which increases the risk of infectious diseases such as diarrhea and respiratory infections. This activity used a pre-experimental approach with a one-group design. The participants were 30 children aged 5–14 years. The intervention consisted of health education, demonstration of proper handwashing techniques, and direct practice by participants. Data were collected through observation and oral evaluation. The results showed an increase in children's understanding and ability to perform proper handwashing. Most participants were able to demonstrate the correct steps after the intervention. In addition, there was increased enthusiasm and awareness among children regarding personal hygiene practices.
This activity concludes that PHBS education is effective in improving knowledge and handwashing behavior among children. Continuous education and support from families and local institutions are recommended to sustain behavioral changes.
