Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in shaping the honest and disciplined character of students at MTs Al Kinanah, Jambi City. Character education, especially honesty and discipline, is very important in shaping students' daily attitudes and behavior. PAI teachers play a strategic role through learning, example and habituation at school. This research is field research with a qualitative descriptive method approach. Research subjects included school principals, PAI teachers, curriculum areas, students, and school officials. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.

The research results show that PAI teachers play a role in forming students' honest and disciplined character through example, integrating values ​​in learning, familiarizing themselves with religious activities and school rules, as well as providing educational advice and sanctions. Supporting factors include teacher example, varied and contextual learning methods, and the school's religious environment. The obstacles come from external factors such as the environment outside the school and the influence of technology and social media. Overall, PAI teachers carry out roles as educators, leaders, facilitators, innovators, motivators and supervisors in instilling the values ​​of honesty and discipline consistently through learning, habituation, motivation and supervision
