Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the implementation of the value of shodaqoh (charitable giving) in the tradition of welcoming guests as a form of character education based on the Living Qur’an at Pondok Pesantren Amstilati Jepara, Bangsri. The concept of the Living Qur’an is used to understand how the teachings of the Qur’an are not only studied textually but also actualized in real actions and in the character formation of the students (santri).The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the caretakers, students, and the surrounding community of the pesantren.The findings indicate that the tradition of welcoming guests at Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah Amstilati represents the embodiment of the values of shodaqoh as contained in QS. Al-Baqarah verse 261 and QS. Al-Hadid verse 18. These values are reflected in attitudes of friendliness, sincerity, respect, and service to guests as part of righteous deeds. Through this practice, the pesantren instills Qur’anic character education that fosters empathy, generosity, and social responsibility among the students.This tradition demonstrates that character education in the pesantren does not only take place in the classroom, but also through the habituation of Qur’anic values in daily life.
